Project Management starts before the grant is written
Project management is often treated as something that begins once a grant has been approved.
But before the application is submitted, someone needs to consider whether the proposed project is properly scoped, realistically costed and genuinely deliverable.
Once the funding lands, someone then needs to take responsibility for turning the promises in the application into a successfully delivered project.
These are different stages, but they are directly connected.

This workshop brings together two perspectives on the same project
A grant application cannot be separated from the reality of delivery.
Liz and Leah will explore the connection between what is designed and promised before submission and what an organisation must manage once funding is approved.
You will hear both the grant-seeking and project delivery perspectives in the same conversation.
Together, they will address the questions that can fall between the two:
➜ Is the project genuinely ready to be written?
➜ Has the project management requirement been properly considered?
➜ Does the budget reflect the real work?
➜ Who will be responsible once funding is approved?
➜ Is the proposed delivery model realistic for the organisation?

This is not a technical project management course or a step-by-step grant-writing class.
It is a practical leadership conversation about designing, funding and delivering projects responsibly.

Liz Fleming is a Chartered Accountant, grant writer and strategic funding partner who helps organisations take a strategic approach to turning their big ideas into realistic, fundable projects.
Through The Grants Club, Liz has supported more than 350 organisations and helped secure more than $25 million for projects creating meaningful community impact.
Liz brings experience in project design, strategic funding, grant applications and budgets. She understands what funders expect to see and what can go wrong when the delivery requirements behind an application have not been properly considered.
Meet Leah McPherson
