Frequently Asked Questions
Questions organisations ask me about grant writing and grant strategy
The Grants Club is a grant writing and grant strategy practice for Australian not-for-profits and impact-driven organisations. Grants can be a brilliant way to fund growth, projects and impact - but applying for every grant you see is not a strategy.
I help organisations make better funding decisions, work out which grants are worth pursuing, which projects are ready for funding, and how to write grant applications that give assessors every reason to say YES.
Whether you're looking for someone to write a grant application, review one you've prepared or help you develop a longer-term funding strategy, these are some of the questions I get asked the most.
What is The Grants Club?
The Grants Club is an Australian grant writing and grant strategy practice founded by grant application writer and Chartered Accountant Liz Fleming.
I work with not-for-profits and impact-driven organisations that want to approach grant funding strategically rather than chasing every opportunity that appears.
My role isn't to become your outsourced grants department. It's to help you make better funding decisions, identify suitable opportunities, strengthen your projects and write grant applications that genuinely showcase the value and impact of your work.
The right funding. The right projects. The right time.
Who is The Grants Club for?
The Grants Club works with Australian not-for-profits, charities, community organisations, social enterprises and impact-driven businesses that are serious about their growth, sustainability and impact. Typically, you have a clear purpose, projects you want to deliver and a desire to access funding, but perhaps not enough time or internal capacity to work out which opportunities are worth pursuing.
Often the big funding decisions are still sitting with the CEO, board or an already stretched team. You don't need to have everything figured out before working with me, but you do need to be willing to collaborate, share information, contribute your knowledge and make decisions.
Grant writing is a partnership, not a handover.
If you're simply looking for someone to fill in an application form without any involvement from your organisation, I'm probably not the right fit.
But if you're looking for an experienced grant writer and strategist who will challenge your thinking, strengthen your project and help you put forward your best possible application, then we should talk.
